Extreme Left Aims to Abolish ICE as Illegal Immigrant Truck Drivers Take American Lives

Sen. Jim Banks Critiques Democrats Over Immigration Policies

In a recent interview, Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) strongly criticized “radical” Democrats advocating for the defunding and abolishment of ICE, especially in light of rising crimes committed by undocumented immigrants.

He highlighted a tragic incident involving illegal truck drivers, including a recent crash in Indiana that resulted in the deaths of four Amish community members. This accident, he noted, was devastating and underscored the dangers posed by illegal immigration.

The Department of Homeland Security identified the driver involved as Bekzan Beishekeyev, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, who allegedly crashed into a van carrying up to 15 passengers.

The victims included 58-year-old Henry Eicher, his two sons, Meno (33) and Paul (31), and Simon Schwartz (22). Banks expressed his outrage, stating, “This illegal truck driver struck and killed all four Amish people in the van,” while the driver of the van suffered serious injuries. He emphasized that Beishekeyev entered the U.S. illegally during the Biden administration, gaining access through a mobile app called CBP One, after being granted parole.

Banks continued, saying Pennsylvania’s Democratic leadership permitted him to obtain a commercial driver’s license, enabling him to drive legally on the roads, which he found deeply concerning.

He condemned Congressional Democrats for trying to hinder the work of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), accusing them of not wanting to take action against illegal immigration. “They truly despise what ICE officers do,” he remarked, likening the situation to defunding the police.

He firmly believes that ICE plays a critical role in maintaining safety within communities, particularly by removing violent criminals. “Some Democrats, in my view, want to defund and abolish ICE,” he asserted, calling law enforcement officers heroes for their efforts to keep cities and streets safe.

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old Indiana National Guard member, Terry Fry, lost his life in an accident also allegedly caused by an illegal truck driver. According to reports, Fry was part of a convoy heading to training when a truck collided with his military vehicle, resulting in his death and injuries to three other soldiers. The driver’s apprehension by ICE followed the crash.

Banks expressed his anguish over Fry’s tragic death, stating that “he should still be alive” and attributed it to illegal immigration policies. He reiterated his support for previous efforts to curb illegal immigration, advocating for action to prevent tragedies like these in the future.

After reflecting on the situation, Banks criticized what he characterized as lax immigration laws in states like Pennsylvania, New York, and California, calling on the Biden administration to address these issues and reiterating the need for change to ensure safety. “It simply has to end,” he said, highlighting the rising toll of such incidents in Indiana and across the country.
