Far-Left Group Urges Student Activism

A recently discovered training manual from the activist organization, Sunrise Movement, encourages college and K-12 students to engage in monthly protests and take part in what it calls “massive non-cooperation” to initiate a “political revolution” throughout the U.S.

This 25-page guide, obtained by Defending Education, emphasizes mobilizing youth against what it labels as “the establishment” and “billionaire-controlled systems.” It urges students to leave their classrooms and boycott businesses, suggesting that society couldn’t function without their involvement.

“We’re not going to get there overnight,” the manual states. “We’re not just trying to go back to the way things were; we’re aiming for political revolutions. This is a starting point for making changes in your school now.”

A major focus of the manual is opposition to ICE, which the document describes as an “occupying force.” This rhetoric has gained traction among students in Minnesota and beyond, framing ICE as a primary target of their activism.

Earlier this year, the group initiated the “ICE Out For Good” campaign, which involved loud protests with drums and horns outside hotels where ICE agents are believed to be staying, especially in the Minneapolis region.

According to Defending Education’s report, a slide from a recent coordination call emphasized concerns around the Trump administration’s policies. The movement’s stated goals include driving ICE out of Minnesota and building student power in schools across the nation. The manual also suggests various strategies for action, including organized shopping at local stores to provoke a response from state authorities.

As preparations ramp up for a significant “May Day” event on May 1, 2026, the organizers hope to disrupt typical activities by rallying millions of students and workers.

Until that time, the guide encourages students to initiate actions on the first Friday of every month. They start with minor gestures like wearing particular colors before escalating to more pronounced disruptions.

The manual provides a strategic outline for transforming school environments beyond traditional protests. It advises students on recruiting classmates and engaging them in activism and suggests leveraging unexpected incidents to gain public attention and recruit members.

Several advocacy groups, including labor unions and activist organizations, are listed as collaborators in this effort. While the guide promotes nonviolence and lawful behavior, it also discusses ambitious objectives—such as fundamentally changing the U.S. economic system.

Among the demands associated with this “political revolution” are the establishment of a “worker and student party,” a federal job guarantee, and a Green New Deal.

The group claims its efforts aim to “bring big business to its knees” by dismantling the established systems through school-based activism.

Ryen Staley, a director at Defending Education, expressed concern over external organizations recruiting students in K-12 schools to instigate a revolution, calling for parents and educators to be alarmed by the disruption of learning environments due to these far-left philosophies.

Sunrise Movement has established a focus on promoting a Green New Deal, emphasizing its four key pillars, which include addressing the climate crisis and advocating for economic justice.

Concerns about the group’s affiliations have also been raised in Congress, as some lawmakers linked it to Antifa, labeling it a domestic extremist organization. The organization has received significant funding, reportedly over $2 million from sources associated with George Soros.

The group’s past statements indicate a commitment to dismantling fossil fuel dependence and prioritize social justice agendas.
