The Woods Family Expands Its Golf Legacy

The Woods family continues to build upon its rich golf legacy. Charlie Woods, son of the legendary Tiger Woods, recently announced via Instagram that he will be playing college golf at Florida State University. Exciting, right? He expressed his enthusiasm with a simple “Go Noles!”

Last May, Charlie secured a victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational and in August, he hit a hole-in-one at TPC Sawgrass. During the years 2020 to 2024, he and his father participated together in the PNC Championship, and in 2024, Charlie impressively made his first ace. The duo finished second in both 2021 and 2024, showcasing their strong teamwork.

Having just turned 17, Charlie is currently ranked 21st in the United States Junior Golf Association. Notably, he tied for ninth place at the Junior PGA Championship this past August.

To add a bit of context, Tiger Woods himself has a storied career, with 82 professional wins that tie him with Sam Snead for the most in history. Among those wins are 15 majors, the last of which occurred at the memorable 2019 Masters.

Regarding Tiger’s recent challenges, he underwent hip surgery in December and faced a torn Achilles tendon just weeks before the previous year’s Masters. Since then, he hasn’t played since the 2024 British Open, participating in only five tournaments that year—mostly major events. It’s a bit disappointing, but injuries have obviously taken a toll on his golfing career.

Interestingly, Florida State boasts a rich sports history, with notable alumni like five-time major champion Brooks Koepka and 1993 PGA Champion Paul Azinger. Charlie’s decision to play there might just add another chapter to this college’s storied athletics.
