Road Rage Incident in Florida Involves Gun Threat

A Florida man has been charged following an intense road rage episode over the weekend.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a 911 call around 1 p.m. on Sunday. The report indicated that a suspect was brandishing a gun at another vehicle while traveling north on 331 South, near Sherwood Road.

Law enforcement soon identified the suspect as Blackie Alvarez, 33, from Bonifay. Officers found him after locating his vehicle.

Upon exiting his car, Alvarez reportedly pulled a black handgun from his waistband and placed it on his vehicle. Moreover, two sets of metal knuckles were discovered in his pocket.

The investigation revealed more details. The victims had been driving north on the same route when, allegedly, Alvarez, who was driving a white Ford Explorer, accelerated and began honking at them. They described how he maneuvered aggressively around their car, then abruptly stopped in front of them. That’s when he pulled out his weapon and aimed it at them. Authorities labeled this confrontation a “street assault incident.”

Interestingly, Alvarez declined to provide any comments to deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

He now faces several charges, including two counts of felony false imprisonment, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, among others. Additionally, he also had a warrant out of Bay County related to child support obligations.

Alvarez was set with a bail amount of $235,000 and remains in custody according to jail records from Thursday morning.

The sheriff’s office shared this incident on Facebook, drawing a surge of over 3,000 comments, some of which humorously pondered the absurdity of the situation.

  • One commenter quipped, “I wish there was a jump scare warning!”
  • An observation read: “When you put all your skill points into chaos and none into dentistry.”
  • Another suggested, “Don’t bite the grenade.”
  • One user commented, “He’s already started hounding the Tooth Fairy for bail.”
