TUCSON, Ariz. — Ongoing Search for Missing Woman
The effort to locate an 84-year-old woman from Arizona, Nancy Guthrie, has now crossed into its 12th day. Recently, experts from the FBI’s video forensics team were spotted entering her home, specifically in the area where blood stains had been discovered earlier.
Images reveal the FBI’s Video Forensic Analysis Unit arriving at Guthrie’s residence, bringing in several large cases into a tent that had been set up on the porch. This same unit previously contributed to apprehending Brian Koberger, a student murderer from Idaho who is now serving a life sentence.
Alongside their investigation, members were seen transporting a forensic heightboard, which may be crucial for comparing the physical characteristics at the scene with surveillance footage collected by the FBI.
Typically, the FBI keeps a tight lid on the specifics of their cases involving forensic video experts. However, their Forensic Audio, Video, and Image Analysis Unit plays a vital role in high-profile investigations across the nation.
As per FBI documentation, this unit focuses on enhancing surveillance footage, authenticating recordings, examining them for signs of tampering, extracting still images for comparative analysis, deciphering timestamps, and even recovering damaged media. They are also called upon to deliver expert testimony in legal contexts.
In other investigations, like the University of Idaho quadruple murder case, the FBI has lent valuable assistance to local authorities, particularly with digital evidence and vehicle tracking. Their Digital Evidence Lab processes numerous audio and video cases annually, ranging from significant historical events like 9/11 to high-profile fraud trials.
Similar to this situation, Fox News Digital observed equipment, specifically a Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 4K Mini—a device typically employed in high-level broadcast settings—being carried into the property.
Technology expert Kurt “Cyber Guy” Knutson noted that the UltraStudio 4K Mini is capable of capturing high-definition video and audio and converting it into various formats, a vital tool for further forensic analysis.
Meanwhile, a forensic investigator carried a heightboard out from Guthrie’s residence. Expert insights suggest that precise measurements of structural elements may assist in deciphering details about a masked individual seen on her doorbell camera footage.
To encourage tips regarding Nancy Guthrie’s case, the FBI has put forward a $50,000 reward. The investigation is still active.
