SWAT Team Engages in Operation Linked to Missing Woman
A Pima County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team took action at a residence near the property of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing. Reports indicate that they ordered two individuals to exit the home, ultimately resulting in the apprehension of one person.
This operation, which occurred roughly two miles away from where Guthrie was last seen, was connected to the ongoing investigation into her disappearance. It seems the two people did leave willingly when approached by law enforcement.
While it’s been confirmed that one individual was detained in connection with the investigation, there’s still some uncertainty around whether this occurred during the Pima County operation itself.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the situation.
Notably, this SWAT action followed the discovery of DNA evidence on Guthrie’s property that belonged to someone who hadn’t had close contact with her.
Guthrie was last spotted on January 31, when family members reported blood stains at her Tucson home. Since her disappearance on February 1, multiple ransom notes have appeared from self-proclaimed kidnappers, though no suspects have been identified as the search stretches into its 13th day.
A local delivery driver, who found himself briefly detained during the investigation, claimed he was unfamiliar with either Nancy or her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, a host on NBC’s “Today” show—despite the case being highly publicized.
The FBI has also released footage showing an armed individual attempting to lure Guthrie to her door. Descriptions suggest the suspect is a male, standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a typical build.
To assist in the investigation, the FBI has increased the reward to $100,000 for information that could lead to either Guthrie’s location or the capture of her abductors.
