Store employee at the Olympics yells 'Free Palestine' at Israeli supporters in Italy

A video released by StopAntisemitism highlights an employee from an official Olympic shop who is currently under investigation. The incident occurred during the Winter Olympics in Italy when he shouted “Liberate Palestine” at Israeli supporters.

The incident was captured on video and posted on Friday by the organization, which aims to expose individuals or groups that incite against Jews and engage in anti-Semitic behavior.

The video features a woman confronting a man, asking, “What did you say? Say it again.”

In the footage, the man, named Ali Mohamed Hassan, loudly repeats “Liberate Palestine.”

“This is the Olympics. Israel is allowed to compete like any other country. It’s not controversial, and it’s not something to get angry about,” the woman said during the exchange.

StopAntisemitism noted, “Earlier today, an anti-Semitic scene unfolded as staff at an official Olympic store began shouting ‘Liberate Palestine’ at Israeli fans.”

The organization alleged that police were contacted, and a harassment investigation is underway. Potential charges may follow.

As of Friday, the video had received over 11,000 likes and sparked many comments, with some urging for the employee’s termination.

Milano Cortina 2026 confirmed that the incident took place at the Cortina Sliding Center and that the employee has been dismissed. “Convention staff should not express personal political opinions while on duty or address attendees in such a manner,” they stated.

The issue was apparently resolved quickly at the venue, much to the relief of those present, and the individual was removed from his duties.

The International Olympic Committee had not provided a comment regarding the situation at the time.

Many commenters expressed outrage, calling for the employee’s dismissal. One user emphasized, “That’s harassment from an employee on duty.” Another person tagged the Olympics and the IOC, questioning their hiring practices.

The Winter Olympics are currently taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
