Carmen Electra Discusses the Secrets to Lasting Relationships

Carmen Electra recently shared her thoughts on sustaining romance during an interview at the 7th Annual Jam for Johnny Grammy Awards Party, hosted by Steven Tyler. At 53, she reflected on keeping the spark alive in relationships.

“You definitely want to keep the sparkle,” she noted, “but it’s crucial to be with someone you love, as that’s really what maintains the shine, right?” The “Baywatch” alum elaborated on her preference for partners who appreciate the essence of a person and aren’t negative. “I like artists—people who are genuinely interested in art, whatever form it takes. It’s all good.”

Electra has had several notable romantic entanglements over the years. In the early ’90s, she dated Prince, who played a significant role in her music career. He discovered her in 1991 and signed her to his Paisley Park label, even giving her the name Carmen Electra. Their relationship was brief but amicable, leading to her self-titled debut album in 1993.

Next, she captured public attention with her whirlwind romance and brief marriage to NBA star Dennis Rodman in the late ’90s. They married in Las Vegas in 1998, but Rodman filed for annulment just nine days later. They briefly got back together, but their divorce was finalized in April 1999.

In the early 2000s, Electra had a more serious and sustained relationship with Dave Navarro, the guitarist of Jane’s Addiction. They married in 2003 and showcased their lives on MTV’s “Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen + Dave.” However, they separated in July 2006, and the divorce was finalized in February 2007.

After Navarro, Electra dated musician Rob Patterson, and they announced an engagement in April 2008. They remained engaged for several years but ultimately split in October 2012. Throughout her journey, she has also been linked to various other celebrities, including Tommy Lee and Simon Cowell.

In a recent discussion, Electra mentioned that she is currently single but is open to dating in 2026. She shared what she values in a partner, stating, “I don’t like liars. It’s so enjoyable to be with someone who is genuinely into you.” Reflecting on past experiences, she said, “Once you know what it’s like to be with someone special, you can’t forget that feeling. It’s truly beautiful.”

Electra reminisced about her early experiences with romance, crediting Navarro for teaching her how to embrace her romantic side. She noted, “I wasn’t particularly romantic, but I learned to be.” She also shared how she maintains her confidence in her 50s by striving to be the best version of herself: “I love life, food, people, and love itself. That passion continues.”

Recently, she donned her iconic red Baywatch swimsuit again for a photo shoot, expressing excitement for what 2026 may hold. “I thought it would be fun, so I just went for it—let’s wear the suit and take a picture,” she explained.

Electra has not yet heard anything about the upcoming Baywatch reboot but is open to discussions. She also announced an upcoming collaboration with fellow ’90s icon Denise Richards on OnlyFans. Electra debuted her account just a month ago, reflecting on how being her own boss feels liberating: “It was a no-brainer,” she said about joining the platform.

The duo’s Valentine’s Day collaboration has generated buzz, with Electra noting how enjoyable working with Richards has been. “We’re having a lot of fun wearing some sexy lingerie together—be sure to check us out!”
