Update on Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

A former FBI agent with a background in behavioral analysis shared insights regarding Savannah Guthrie’s recent Instagram video, suggesting it might target a suspect who appears to be an amateur criminal under pressure from an ongoing investigation.

In her video, Savannah mentioned that it’s been two weeks since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, vanished, but she reassured viewers that the family hasn’t lost hope. She urged, “It’s never too late. You’re never lost or alone. It’s never too late to do the right thing.” Savannah emphasized a belief in human goodness and a message of persistence.

Johnny Grusing, an ex-FBI agent with 25 years of experience in various crime investigations, including missing persons cases, thinks the FBI might be influencing Savannah’s public appeals. Since Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah has posted four videos on her Instagram, three featuring direct messages aimed at both the suspect and potential witnesses for information.

Grusing speculated that the suspect is likely not a highly skilled criminal. He suggested that Savannah’s recent video was crafted with guidance from an FBI profiler to persuade the suspect to surrender. He noted the suspect’s apparent signs of panic and his family’s reluctance to expose him, indicating they might believe he’s troubled enough to reconsider his actions.

Grusing pointed out the awkwardness displayed by the suspect, who seemed uncomfortable even while trying to obscure a camera with a brush taken from the yard. “If you look at how clumsy this individual is,” Grusing remarked, “it’s clear he’s not a professional.” He theorized that the situation escalated beyond what the suspect had intended, leading to an extensive FBI response and public scrutiny weeks later.

He expressed confidence that, despite the lengthy process, both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are dedicated to the investigation. Grusing believes it’s only a matter of time before the suspect is apprehended, stating, “He’s going to be arrested. Something’s going to break.” He reiterated the idea that the suspect needs to find the courage to come forward.
