Trump deploys USS Gerald Ford, F-22s, and F-35s near Iran in anticipation of potential attacks

Military Buildup in the Middle East

Reports indicate that President Trump is dispatching the USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest warship in the world, along with an aerial refueling tanker and a significant number of F-22 and F-35 strike fighters to the Middle East.

This substantial military mobilization suggests that Trump may be gearing up for a significant military action against Iran, particularly if high-stakes negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program and its response to protests fail.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Ford departed into the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday, making its way toward the Strait of Gibraltar, which leads to the Mediterranean Sea.

Upon arrival, it will join the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group in the region, marking a considerable show of strength as discussions between the US and Iran concerning its nuclear activities continue.

The Ford, known for its advanced technology, can accommodate over 75 aircraft including the stealthy F-35C Lightning II, F/A-18F Super Hornet, and EA-18G Growler jets.

Accompanying the strike group are three destroyers: USS Bainbridge, USS Mahan, and USS Winston Churchill.

This carrier had been active in the Caribbean since mid-November, supporting U.S. Navy operations related to President Trump’s agenda in South America.

The deployment of the Ford signals an escalation in military readiness in the Middle East, with Trump not ruling out a potential strike against Iran as negotiations become increasingly stalled.

In addition to the Lincoln, four destroyers are operating in the Arabian Sea, and another three patrol the Strait of Hormuz, while the USS Delbert Black is stationed in the Red Sea, and two combat ships are positioned in the Persian Gulf.

As part of this buildup, over 50 fighter jets were repositioned to the region recently, including models such as the F-16 Falcons, F-22 Raptors, and F-35 jets, according to Axios.

The stealth capabilities of the F-35 could allow for strikes on Iran with reduced risk of being detected by their air defenses.

These aircraft will supplement others that have been relocated in recent weeks from bases in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

Experts explain that such a large-scale deployment would enable the U.S. to carry out airstrikes deep into Iran while also providing defensive support for U.S. forces and allies in the region.

Meanwhile, Iran has issued warnings about potential retaliation against U.S. forces and allies should an attack occur, and has recently conducted live-fire missile drills while closing off the Strait of Hormuz.
