Former Michigan coach achieves legal victory in criminal case

On Tuesday, a judge ruled in favor of former Michigan Wolverines head football coach Sherone Moore by allowing a hearing regarding the investigation that resulted in his criminal charges.

Moore, who was arrested in December shortly after his dismissal as head coach, faces serious accusations. He allegedly entered the apartment of a woman he was involved with without permission and threatened to take his own life in front of her.

Authorities reported that he blamed her for losing a prestigious college football coaching position. Currently, he is facing felony charges, which include burglary, stalking, and trespassing. Moore and his attorney, Ellen Michaels, are seeking to have the charges dismissed.

Judge J. Cedric Simpson, overseeing the case, expressed concern regarding how the detectives handled the situation, especially since the relationship between Moore and the woman was not terminated when the arrest warrant was approved. He referred to this as a significant oversight.

Simpson has scheduled a hearing for March 2 to hear from police and other witnesses. The police indicated that the woman had ended her relationship with Moore shortly before his termination and had not replied to numerous calls or texts from him afterward.

Michaels argued that Moore’s repeated attempts to contact his executive assistant during preparations for a bowl game were reasonable. “If the communication has a legitimate purpose, it’s not stalking,” she asserted.
