Nicola Peltz Revives Iconic Valentino Crop Top
Recently, Nicola Peltz unearthed a gem from her wardrobe. The 31-year-old actress donned an off-the-shoulder Valentino crop top that closely resembles one worn by Keira Knightley back in 2003 during the premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” at Disneyland. It’s one of those unforgettable 2000s red carpet moments that still resonates today.
At the time, Knightley was just 18, pairing the striking top with low-slung bootcut jeans and a Tahitian pearl choker, which was a nice nod to the film’s setting. She really established herself as a major style icon of that era.
Peltz first showcased the vintage piece on Valentine’s Day, sharing a kiss with her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, alongside a heartfelt message about love and gratitude.
Interestingly, before Knightley made it iconic, Gisele Bündchen was spotted in the same top, tying a sash around her waist at the conclusion of Valentino’s Spring 2003 runway show.
Just two days after her Valentine’s post, Peltz opted for a similar ensemble, again teaming the crop top with bootcut jeans for a dinner date at Vespertine in Culver City, California. Beckham, wearing a luxurious rose gold Patek Philippe watch, accompanied her, and they made quite the exit carrying two bottles of high-end vintage Bordeaux—one valued at $3,000 and the other over $1,000.
In a recent interview, Knightley, now 40, reflected on the resurgence of Y2K fashion. She amusingly recalled the pivotal role her belly button played in her style choices back then and remarked on seeing teens in London sporting vintage uniforms that reminded her of those times.
This dinner outing comes amidst a very public fallout involving Beckham and his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. Back in January, he expressed in a six-page Instagram statement his desire to distance himself from their influence, claiming they were undermining his marriage.
His statements included accusations that his mother had canceled the production of Peltz’s wedding dress just before their April 2022 nuptials in Palm Beach, Florida. Yet, previous interviews seem to contradict this timeline.
Ultimately, Peltz walked down the aisle in a custom Valentino couture dress, from the very same fashion house responsible for her memorable crop top, reaffirming the brand’s lasting appeal.
