Truck collides with Oregon family's house after soaring 100 feet into the air

A truck reportedly soared around 100 feet into the air before crashing into a house in Oregon.

This unusual event took place just before 3 a.m. on February 13th in Tigard, a city approximately 16 miles south of Portland.

Witnesses mentioned that the driver was speeding and behaving recklessly when he collided with a dirt pile on the roadside. Authorities suspect that this impact propelled the truck, causing it to breach a 3-foot brick wall and slam into the side of a residence.

The police department expressed gratitude for the lack of serious injuries and acknowledged the aid from neighboring agencies, which included local fire and police departments, in managing the aftermath of the crash.

Upon arrival, officers found the driver unconscious and stuck inside the vehicle alongside his passenger, according to the Tigard Police.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue personnel were able to extricate the pair, both of whom were subsequently taken to the hospital with only minor injuries.

The driver, identified as Jacob Hankins, 33, faces charges for reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

While the structure sustained substantial damage, fortunately, the family residing in the home remained unharmed.

Homeowner David Brudnock recounted the chaos, stating, “I woke up to loud banging and rumbling—it was just wild. My wife was in the other room knitting, and then I heard her scream my name.”

Brudnock noted that the truck left a significant hole where their bathroom used to be. As local news outlets reported, the family is in limbo, awaiting insurance updates about covering the damages. For the time being, they have been relocated to hotel accommodations financed by their insurance provider.
