Uncertain Future for Breece Hall with Jets
Jets supporters might want to brace themselves for some unsettling news.
When asked recently if he was content with potentially staying with the Jets long-term, Breece Hall, 24, offered a rather vague response: “What happens happens.”
“Honestly, I don’t know,” Hall shared during a trading card event at Long Island Sports Cards. “I’ve been focused on this for about six or seven months now. But at this point, it’s just—what happens, happens.”
Hall also expressed enjoyment in connecting with Jets fans during the event at Albertsons, especially after a fairly quiet offseason.
“It was great,” he said about meeting the fans. “I kept a low profile this offseason, so it felt nice to get out there and connect with people who support us.”
In 2025, Hall enjoyed the best season of his career, rushing for over 1,000 yards (1,065 on 243 carries), adding 57 first downs and scoring four touchdowns.
However, Hall’s future with the Jets remains uncertain, as he’s expected to enter free agency in March.
Despite this, he mentioned he feels confident about whatever comes his way. “I’m just standing firm and leaving the rest to God and my agents,” he continued. “I believe my performance has proven my worth over the last few years. I’m not overly concerned because I know I’ll handle everything upcoming.”
The Jets have the option to apply the franchise tag to Hall, who is anticipated to cost about $14.5 million in 2026, with the deadline for applying the tag being March 3.
As this deadline nears, Jets general manager Darren Mousey has not disclosed whether the team plans to use either the franchise or transition tag on Hall. Yet, he did acknowledge back in January that Hall is a good player and that the organization wishes to retain as many talented players as possible.
“Breece is a valuable player,” Mousey remarked at that time. “We want to bring back as many skilled players as we can. We’ll navigate through this process and see what unfolds during free agency.”
