Chiefs star shares message received from Rondale Moore shortly before his passing

The NFL community is in mourning after the passing of wide receiver Rondale Moore, whose body was discovered on Saturday night at his Indiana home, according to NFL officials.

Tributes began flooding social media, with Brown mentioning that he had received a message from Moore earlier that day.

“Hyung, I didn’t expect to hear from you,” Brown posted on X. He later shared, “You weren’t alone…I know how you feel.”

He also reposted heartfelt messages from other NFL players including Raheem Mostert, Elijah Moore, and Jamal Adams. Brown remembered a conversation he had with Moore, offering encouragement after Moore’s previous season-ending injury. Notably, Moore had fractured his foot in 2024 and later tore his ACL during the Vikings’ first preseason game of 2025.

Brown conveyed his support with words of prayer and encouragement, reminding Moore to trust in God’s plan during difficult times. He added that there are always others facing harder struggles.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey confirmed the details surrounding Moore’s death, which officials are still investigating.

The Floyd County Coroner, Matthew Tomlin, also verified the news, mentioning an autopsy would take place on Sunday.

Moore, after his time at Purdue, was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons there before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, though an injury limited his time on the field. He was poised to join the Vikings before the last season, but an injury prevented him from making the roster.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who loved him and had the privilege of knowing such a special person,” remarked the Cardinals in a statement.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed his shock, stating, “Rondale was a brief member of the Vikings, but he was someone we knew well and cared about deeply.” He went on to describe Moore as humble and resilient, despite facing numerous challenges, including injuries.
