Witkoff cautions that Iran is 'a week away' from obtaining 'materials for bomb-making' while Trump considers taking action

On Saturday, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff expressed concerns that Iran might be “just a week away” from acquiring materials for making nuclear bombs. This raises pressing issues about President Donald Trump’s next steps to counter this potential threat.

Witkoff noted that Iran’s uranium enrichment has reached “up to 60%,” and warned that it may take about a week for them to obtain substances necessary for bomb-making.

During an appearance on “My Views with Lara Trump,” he highlighted the seriousness of the situation, especially in light of Trump’s “zero enrichment” policy. He accused Iran of significantly breaching the guidelines for a civilian nuclear program.

“This situation cannot continue,” he stated, insisting that Iran must demonstrate compliance to regain trust.

Witkoff also mentioned that President Trump seems “interested” in understanding the dynamics at play, particularly regarding Iran’s resistance despite increased U.S. pressure. He questioned why, with the substantial naval presence in the region, Iranian leaders aren’t publicly renouncing the need for weapons.

However, it’s not just external strategies that pose challenges for Iran. The regime is also grappling with unrest at home, which has led to violent crackdowns against protesters.

Exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has frequently discussed options for dismantling the current regime and has voiced confidence in Trump’s potential support for such initiatives.

Pahlavi detailed several actions that the United States could undertake to weaken the Iranian leadership. Suggestions included targeting the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), tackling illegal oil shipments that finance the regime, expelling diplomats linked to crimes, freezing the assets of influential figures, providing internet access to activists, and calling for the release of political prisoners.

Witkoff shared that he met with Pahlavi at the behest of the president. He views Pahlavi as a concerned figure for his country, yet he emphasized that the focus should remain on Trump’s policies rather than on Pahlavi’s perspectives.

“I believe the president values diverse viewpoints; he doesn’t let personal pride dictate his decision-making,” Witkoff noted, appreciating Trump’s openness to new ideas.
