Michael Jordan’s Winning Streak in NASCAR Continues
HAMPTON, Ga. — Michael Jordan is making quite the name for himself in the NASCAR world, both on and off the track.
For the second Sunday in a row, the basketball icon and co-owner of 23XI Racing found himself celebrating with driver Tyler Reddick after a thrilling race at Echo Park Speedway. The excitement didn’t stop there; Reddick has now claimed the top position in the Cup Series points standings, joined by teammate Bubba Wallace.
Last week, Jordan also celebrated a major victory at the Daytona 500, which is often seen as the pinnacle of stock car racing.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Jordan recently settled a federal antitrust lawsuit with NASCAR. This legal victory solidified a permanent franchise model for his team, ensuring its longevity in the racing circuit.
Jordan reflected on the hard work his team put in, stating, “The players have been working hard all summer. We faced some challenges, but they kept pushing. Winning the first two races says a lot about our entire team.”
Reddick has been a standout driver. Last week, he became only the fourth athlete in history to win the Daytona 500 by leading just the last lap. This time around, he dominated, leading an impressive 53 laps at the 1.54-mile oval near Atlanta. Despite a nine-car crash that caused damage to his Toyota and sent him to 27th place for repairs, he managed to rally back and secure his 10th career win.
Reddick expressed his disbelief at the back-to-back victories, saying, “I mean, that’s crazy, right? I just found my way back into the top five.” His performance was aided by runner-up Chase Briscoe and teammate Ross Chastain, who finished third.
Toward the end of a race filled with a record-setting 57 lead changes, Wallace started strong during the final restart but fell back to eighth place. He still managed to score significant points by winning the second stage and leading for 46 laps.
Jordan acknowledged the efforts of both Reddick and Wallace: “Tyler did an unbelievable job. I feel bad for Bubba because he had a fantastic day. But I’m very happy for Tyler and for 23XI Racing.”
