Louisiana Police Officer’s Family to Attend State of the Union
The family of a deceased Louisiana police officer will be present at President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, thanks to an invitation from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana).
Mark Tyler Bullock’s wife and fiancée are set to attend the event, as reported on Monday. Johnson expressed his honor in welcoming Shirley Bullock-Dennis and Cambray Smith, noting that Officer Bullock was tragically killed while serving in November.
Speakers highlighted Bullock as “an extraordinary young man” whose service and volunteer work impacted many lives. His untimely death serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that law enforcement officers face daily, according to Johnson.
The 25-year-old Bullock lost his life in a late 2025 incident in Vivian, Louisiana, while attempting to execute an arrest warrant. The person he was pursuing was later charged with cyberstalking.
Johnson has shown appreciation for Trump’s ‘bold actions’ and will take a prominent role as millions tune in to the President’s address, which marks Trump’s second since returning to the White House last year.
Both the President and the Vice President will sit behind Trump, detailing the accomplishments and unresolved matters of his term. In a significant moment for the Vivian community, Bullock’s story will be shared publicly through Johnson’s platform.
The man accused in Bullock’s murder was charged with first-degree murder earlier this month. Johnson, who has connections to public safety due to his late father’s work as a firefighter, continues to emphasize the importance of remembering those who serve.
