LeBron James Remembers Jaylen Brown’s Comments about Bronny
Two years have passed since Jaylen Brown made some controversial remarks regarding Bronny James, and it seems LeBron James is still feeling the impact of those words. After the Lakers suffered a 111-89 defeat to the Celtics at Crypto.com Arena, LeBron expressed his frustration about Brown’s comments during a 2024 NBA Summer League game.
When asked about his relationship with the Boston star, LeBron responded, “Our relationship has been pretty respectful. Except for what he said about Bronny, of course. Other than that, we were fine.”
Back in July 2024, during a preseason game in Las Vegas, Brown was seen on camera informing WNBA players Kaizle Gondrezczyk and Angel Reese, “I don’t think Bronny is a professional.” He went on to add that Bronny would likely make the Lakers’ main roster without needing to go to the G League in his rookie year, which he attributed to Bronny’s name rather than his skills.
Following the backlash, Brown took to his social media to mitigate the fallout. While he didn’t offer an outright apology, he praised LeBron and his son in an attempt to smooth things over. He tweeted that having his son alongside him in the NBA was a testament to greatness and mentioned looking forward to watching Bronny develop, noting, “Bronny has all the tools to succeed.”
LeBron acknowledged that this statement somewhat helped to mend the situation, although he admitted to having mixed feelings about it. “We’ll be fine,” he said. “He spoke about it on social media, which is okay. But Bronny still has a long road ahead. That’s a different story.”
Bronny James was drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, playing 27 games in his rookie season. So far this season, the 21-year-old has appeared in 29 games, averaging around 2.2 points per game.
