Robert De Niro Urges to ‘Remove’ Trump in Podcast Released After Mar-a-Lago Shooting

De Niro Calls for Trump to Be “Eliminated”

On Monday’s episode of “The Best People with Nicole Wallace,” actor Robert De Niro stated three times that President Donald Trump must be “eliminated.” This podcast episode was released following an incident where the U.S. Secret Service fatally shot a man attempting to break into Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

During the podcast, De Niro expressed his belief that Trump would never leave the White House, labeling him as “an enemy of this country.” He stated, “Let’s not joke about it. He’s not leaving. It’s up to us to get rid of him.”

Shortly after, he reiterated his point, saying, “He’s an idiot. We have to get rid of him. He’s going to destroy the country—it represents everything this country has ever worked for. It’s happening right before your eyes.”

In a more emotional moment, De Niro became tearful while discussing Trump. He emphasized that it’s time for those who have taken the country for granted to act against Trump.

This podcast comes amid a backdrop of two previous assassination attempts against Trump during his 2024 presidential campaign. Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, suggested during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” that such inflammatory language may contribute to violence. She remarked, “When you casually throw around terms like Nazi, fascist, Hitler, racist, etc., what do you think the ultimate outcome is? We are better than this as a country.” She also expressed relief that neither Trump nor the First Lady were present at Mar-a-Lago during the incident, implying that luck may not hold out forever.

In a previous incident, Trump was shot in the right ear on July 13, 2024, during a rally in Pennsylvania, a bullet missing his head by less than a quarter of an inch, as reported by his former physician, Republican Texas Rep. Ronnie Jackson. Additionally, on September 15, 2024, the Secret Service prevented another assassination attempt when they discovered a suspect hiding nearby while Trump was golfing in Florida.
