School secretary breaks down during questioning about sexual encounter with student discovered by her husband on Valentine's Day

Indiana School Secretary Interrogation Video Released

A newly shared video reveals an emotional moment during a police interrogation of an Indiana high school secretary, Alicia Hughes. She broke down while admitting to having sex with an 18-year-old student who was reportedly found in bed with her husband on Valentine’s Day.

This footage surfaced after her husband filed for divorce and sought emergency custody of their three children, a move that adds a layer of complexity to an already dire situation.

In the recorded interrogation, Hughes, 31, can be seen crying as she discusses her interactions with the student, stating, “It’s been physical… since the end of January.” She acknowledged that this was not their first encounter, saying, “This is the third time I’ve been with him,” but made a point to clarify, “not before he was 18.”

Initially, she denied any sexual involvement with another student. However, later accounts emerged; a 17-year-old boy reported he had sexual encounters with Hughes at least five times, starting in a car outside a Dollar General.

During the questioning, the interviewer pressed, “Are you sure about that?” to which she responded, admitting to exchanging photos with another student during a meeting at a store, though she maintained there was no infidelity.

Despite her denials regarding actions with younger students, she expressed her discomfort, eventually requesting a lawyer. The interrogation concluded with her being handcuffed on five counts of child enticement, each potentially leading to six years of imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.

The scandal sparked when Hughes’ husband discovered her with the 18-year-old and alerted authorities, accusing her of assault. Whether he will face charges remains undetermined.

In a poignant moment, Hughes stated that her behaviors were not “justified,” but claimed her husband had subjected her to both physical and emotional abuse. It’s a troubling narrative—complex, really. She ended the video with an air of resignation, saying, “And that’s where I am. And now I’m here.”

Following her arrest, Hughes was placed in the Randolph County Jail on a $25,000 bail and has been suspended from her position within the Randolph Eastern School Corporation. The superintendent mentioned that she has been removed from any duties involving students while legal proceedings are underway.

While the initial hearing set for February 20 was canceled, the court has determined there is probable cause for her charges, with the next scheduled hearing on April 16 to deal with pretrial motions. A pretrial conference is noted for May 7, and a jury trial is aimed for June 15.
