Research on a security plan for Israel in 2048 seeks to strengthen US relationships.

A recent study is set to reshape Israel’s security and technology sectors, pushing for new approaches as it looks beyond October. The goal is to enhance the U.S.-Israel strategic partnership at both regional and global levels.

Entitled “Israel 2048: A Blueprint for an Emerging Asymmetric Geopolitical Power,” this report from the Henry Jackson Society explores future pathways to bolster American and Israeli security interests. Co-author Barak M. Zehner emphasized that Israel needs to bolster its regional security strengths, leveraging the Abraham Accords, alongside maintaining its technological edge over China.

During Trump’s presidency, his administration facilitated normalization agreements with several Arab nations, including Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, helping to reframe relations in the region.

Zehner and co-author David Wurmser highlight the pressing need to transform the U.S.-Israel relationship, shifting the focus from mere military aid to collaborative efforts in technology research, development, and investment. They stress that Israel should enact regulations to control technology sharing, particularly concerning AI and quantum technologies to prevent their flow to China.

Schiener pointed out that the Pentagon’s recent National Defense Strategy identifies Israel as a crucial military ally. By enhancing trade routes and digital infrastructure, Israel is not just securing regional benefits but is also aiming for global influence. He suggests Israel cannot remain simply defensive; it must actively counter threats.

Following a notable air offensive against Iran in June 2025, Schiener remarked, “America is eager to embrace this storyline of success.” He believes Trump’s administration backed Israel during its military actions, marking a pivotal moment in U.S.-Israeli relations.

Schiener noted that Israel’s advancements in defense technology have become vital for national security. Their comprehensive 51-page report advocates for embedding Israel as a frontline power in defense technology, critical for Western security and competition in crucial sectors like AI, semiconductors, and cyber capabilities. They propose that these technological advantages should be used to solidify alliances and influence global supply chains.

The authors also point out vulnerabilities in America’s European partnerships, urging Israel to boost domestic production of essential military components and energy resources to mitigate dependency on political whims, particularly from Europe. Recent reports indicated Britain’s left-leaning government hindered U.S. forces from using its bases for operations against Iran.

Israel is positioned uniquely to mend Western ties, according to the report. Leveraging its defenses, quantum tech, AI, and cyber assets can help deepen strategic alliances and counter political seclusion, enhancing its sway in Europe, the Gulf, and Asia.

Schiener underscored that while Israel isn’t a traditional superpower, it serves as a significant geopolitical player that offers immense benefits to nations keen on harnessing its technological prowess.
