Erika Kirk to Attend State of the Union as Trump’s Guest

Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, is set to be a guest of President Donald Trump at the upcoming State of the Union address on Tuesday night. White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt confirmed this in a post on X, highlighting her attendance as one of the president’s “special guests.”

During his speech, Trump is expected to emphasize America’s unity, stating that the U.S. is “one nation under God” and urging Congress to “reject political violence against our fellow citizens.” This message comes in the wake of ongoing political violence, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was killed during a debate event in September 2025. It’s worth noting that Trump himself has experienced political violence, having been shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.

Following her husband’s tragic death, Erika received significant support from Trump administration officials. Charlie Kirk’s memorial service took place in Arizona on September 21, 2025, just 11 days after his murder. Trump referred to Charlie as a “martyr to American freedom” during his eulogy.

On what would have been Charlie’s 32nd birthday, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Freedom. Erika accepted the honor on his behalf from Trump, expressing gratitude for what she called “the best birthday present ever.” She conveyed her appreciation for Trump’s commitment to freedom, stating, “Your support for our family and the work Charlie dedicated his life to is something I will always treasure.”

Erika also praised the vice president and second lady for their friendship, describing it as an “incredible encouragement.” Charlie Kirk was just 31 when he was murdered, leaving behind two young children.
