Young AI Advocate Attends State of the Union

Everest Neblaumont, a 10-year-old student and advocate for artificial intelligence (AI), was one of the guests at President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, invited by First Lady Melania Trump.

Along with Sierra Burns, Neblaumont participated in the “Be Best, Fostering the Future” initiative, which focuses on creating educational and economic opportunities for children in foster care.

“Sierra and Everest are remarkable examples of my commitment to support America’s foster youth and enhance opportunities for the next generation through education and technology. It’s an honor to have them with us during this significant event. They represent young people nationwide whose personal journeys and ambitions align with my ‘Growing the Best Future’ objectives,” a statement expressed.

Neblaumont is enrolled at Alpha School in Austin, which has integrated AI software into its curriculum, allowing classes to be significantly shortened to just two hours.

“We utilize AI tutors and adaptive apps that provide a completely tailored learning experience for each student. This has led to quicker and deeper learning. Our classes are actually in the top 2% nationwide,” co-founder Mackenzie Price shared in a March 2025 interview with “Fox & Friends.”

Neblaumont has also delivered two TedX talks advocating for AI in education and discussed its advantages on “America’s Newsroom.”

“AI can assist with everything from tackling math problems to completely reorganizing your daily schedule. I believe mastering AI is an essential life skill,” Neblaumont noted.

He further explained, “In a traditional school, it’s common for one child to be ahead while another is lagging. Here, each student learns precisely what they need to, allowing them to progress much faster and still gain the necessary knowledge.”

Alpha School currently has campuses in Austin, Brownsville, and Miami, catering to students from preschool through high school. The Austin facility features both a K-12 academy and a high school campus in the downtown area. Among these, the Brownsville campus is rapidly growing, while the Miami site offers education up to 10th grade.
