Flat Out Chic
Katie Holmes made an appearance in sunny San Diego on Monday, clutching a bouquet of flowers as if she were a New Yorker savoring a warm escape from the snow. Walking leisurely in her effortless style, she wore her hair pulled back with a soft blue bandana and paired it with a rose-hued T-shirt and a white skirt by Duane Sebastian Broderie.
What jumped out at me, though, were her stylish flats. I can’t help but notice they’re exactly like the ones I’ve been wearing non-stop since they became my go-to: the new Vivaia Margot 3.0 flats.
This revamped version of a popular design includes better cushioning, arch support, and a slightly more spacious toe box, focusing on comfort without sacrificing the original’s best features. They’re made from recycled materials, have a non-slip rubber sole, and boast a carbon insole to keep them smelling fresh—plus, they’re machine washable!
The Margot Mary Jane, a sister style, also got some upgrades. Both options come in a range of lovely colors, like the yellow apricot quilt that Holmes sported and my own vibrant ruby red that adds a fun twist to any outfit.
This isn’t the first time the “Dawson’s Creek” alum has been spotted in this brand, as other celebs like Julia Roberts, Selena Gomez, Oprah, and Alexa Chung are fans too.

I’ve been keeping my Margot 3.0 flats mainly indoors since we had a good amount of snow in the New York City area. Still, I think they’re a whimsical choice you’ll likely see more of this spring.
After a brief break-in period, they adapted to my feet nicely. I’m a fan of the style and might even get the Mary Jane version next. I have a couple of pairs from this brand—satin sneakers and booties—that seamlessly enhance any look, whether it’s with skirts or jeans, and they’re comfy enough for all-day wear.
