On Saturday, Iran launched missile strikes targeting a Middle Eastern nation in response to airstrikes by the US and Israel, leading to significant fires in tourist areas of Dubai.
The Fairmont hotel on Palm Jumeirah, famous for its luxury accommodations, appeared to be in chaos, with videos and images shared widely online.
Reports indicate that the UAE military intercepted an Iranian aerial assault, which resulted in a major hotel being set ablaze. Images captured debris from the intercept that seemed like a missile falling near The Palm, igniting flames on the hotel’s exterior.
Authorities have yet to confirm any injuries or fatalities related to the incident at the upscale hotel.
There’s also rising alarm about potential damage to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, as it seemed to have been in danger of being hit as well.
The UAE military claimed that it successfully intercepted three separate waves of ballistic missiles launched from Tehran.
Debris from the intercepted missiles was reported to have landed in various locations throughout Abu Dhabi, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense. Unfortunately, one individual lost their life due to the failed airstrike.
The Defense Ministry mentioned that the deceased was a worker of Asian descent, who was in a residential area in Abu Dhabi at the time of the attack.
Additionally, the UAE has stated that it “reserves the right to respond” to Iran’s military actions, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.
On that same day, Iran targeted other Gulf nations including Israel, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait following what was referred to as the Operation Epic Fury attack.
