Tragic Shooting in Austin Bar

Early Sunday morning, a shooting at a bar on 6th Street in Austin, Texas, left at least three people dead and injured 17 others. It was reported that responding police officers arrived at the scene within a minute of the first emergency call and shot the gunman.

During a morning news briefing, Travis County EMS Chief Robert Lucritz stated that 14 individuals were transported to nearby hospitals. However, updates on their current conditions have not been made available yet.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is on-site to help with the investigation, as confirmed by various reports. The authorities indicated that police reached the location rapidly, within a little over half a minute.

Details surrounding the incident are still emerging. It occurred at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden, a vibrant social hub close to the University of Texas campus, shortly before 2 a.m. Three officers, who were already monitoring the area, responded and engaged the suspect, ultimately leading to the suspect’s death.

According to Chief Davis, three individuals, including the shooter, were pronounced dead at the scene. EMS Chief Lucritz added that of the 17 individuals found at the site, three were in critical condition, and 14 were taken to hospitals for further treatment. As of now, the identity of the suspect remains undisclosed, and no motive has yet been established for the shooting. Federal partners are assisting in the investigation and processing evidence at the scene.
