The Independent Film Producers Association of Iran has expressed support for the military strike initiated by President Trump against the Iranian regime, urging the global community to safeguard the Iranian people.
The association stated, “In the wake of the uprising and tragic events of January 2025, Iran’s Islamic regime is compelled to seek immediate humanitarian intervention on behalf of its defenseless citizens.”
Reports suggest that, last year, the regime and its hard-line factions were involved in the deaths of over 40,000 Iranians during a crackdown on pro-democracy protests.
The group’s statement further called on the international community to uphold Iran’s sovereignty and to prioritize the welfare of the millions of citizens trapped under the regime’s control.
They emphasized, “We are advocating for targeted actions against regime officials and oppressive figures, ensuring that innocent civilians are not harmed. It’s essential to break this outdated cycle of patriarchal violence.”
The IIFMA also condemned the regime, claiming, “For decades, this administration has wasted the nation’s resources on nuclear and military projects, while imposing severe sanctions that have harmed its own people.”
IIFA condemned the ruling class for “despicable attacks” against neighboring nations.
They noted, “The recent cruel assaults on neighboring countries indicate a declining hold on power.”
Earlier, IIRA had also reached out to the global film industry, urging support for filmmakers who have been arrested under the Iranian regime.
They expressed concern about the recent arrests of filmmakers Dawood Abbasi, Navid Zarebin, and Ghazal Vakili, as well as musician Negin Haksar, all detained amid the uprising. They encouraged the film community to elevate the voices of those facing repression and brutality.
They urged the international community to pressure the Iranian regime to disclose the names of nearly 490,877 individuals arrested during recent protests, highlighting the risk these detainees face in custody. “Their identities have been misleadingly included among the protest victims. This manipulation is intended to downplay the true extent of the regime’s atrocities,” they stated.
Meanwhile, a rising number of Hollywood actors, particularly from the left, are showing their discontent regarding the president’s actions against Iran.
Notable figures like Rosie O’Donnell, Stephen King, and Mia Farrow have voiced their opinions on social media, criticizing the president for what they see as an action against the Iranian population.
