Joe Rogan Critiques Trump’s Military Action in Iran

Podcaster Joe Rogan expressed that many supporters of former President Donald Trump feel disillusioned by recent military operations in Iran, especially considering Trump had positioned himself as a candidate aiming to avoid conflict. Rogan described the situation as perplexing, suggesting that it makes more sense if seen through the lens of serving another country’s interests, particularly Israel’s.

“It really doesn’t make sense to me,” Rogan said. “Unless we’re acting in someone else’s interest. It feels like they’re supposed to be disbanded. It’s hard to determine the validity of claims about nuclear capabilities.”

He further noted, “A lot of people feel betrayed by this. He campaigned on ‘No more wars’ and then we end up in these, what seem like, reckless conflicts without a clear purpose.”

Journalist and professor Michael Shellenberger acknowledged Rogan’s concerns, stating that many Americans are frustrated over the potential for new wars, especially as they struggle with economic challenges.

Rogan recalled past military conflicts, referencing former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s comments about the Iraq War, noting how expectations of a short engagement ended up extending for much longer. “They were claiming six weeks; it’s been much longer now.” He reflected on Rumsfeld’s early predictions about military engagement durations.

According to Shellenberger, there are apprehensions among the public about potential terrorist retaliation resulting from U.S. actions. He speculated that such fears might lead to decreased support for new military efforts.

Rogan agreed, mentioning that recent years have seen some undocumented immigrants arriving from the Middle East, contributing to a tense international atmosphere with ongoing issues in Gaza and Ukraine. “It feels like we’re skating on thin ice, and there’s a genuine possibility of escalating into World War III,” he warned.

During his 2016 campaign, Trump frequently criticized the Iraq War, labeling it a mistake and stating in his first presidential speech that the Middle Eastern conflicts have been disastrous and led to unnecessary losses. He reiterated a commitment to prevent new wars during the 2024 campaign, contrasting his stance with that of his opponents.

In response to the criticism, a White House spokesperson remarked that President Trump is taking a bold stand against the Iranian regime, emphasizing that his administration has been proactive in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear arms or other military capabilities.
