Alabama Man Arrested After Stepson’s Intervention
In a troubling incident in Alabama, a 32-year-old man named Daniel Hernandez-Lopez was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to strangle his wife. This situation escalated when his 13-year-old stepson intervened, striking Hernandez-Lopez and knocking him unconscious, according to local authorities.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office reported that officers were summoned to a residence in Foley, Alabama, around 8 p.m. on Monday night due to the domestic dispute. Hernandez-Lopez’s alleged attack on his wife occurred during an argument, which prompted the intervention from her son.
When the teenager confronted Hernandez-Lopez, the man reportedly lunged at him, attempting to strike him with a bicycle. The boy then defended himself, landing several punches to Hernandez-Lopez’s face, which rendered the adult unconscious before officers arrived.
Preliminary reports suggest that Hernandez-Lopez was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs at the time of the incident. Additionally, it was noted that he is not a U.S. citizen.
After being booked into the Baldwin County Jail on domestic violence strangulation charges, details about whether Hernandez-Lopez has hired a lawyer who could speak on his behalf remain unclear. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has been approached for further information on the case.
