Incident in Texas Involving Father and Carjacker
In a disturbing event unfolding in Texas, police have released footage showing a Mexican immigrant being shot and killed by a father during an attempted carjacking that involved eight family members, including a baby.
Garland Police reported that officers responded to a collision around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. A car driven by 30-year-old Jose Ramirez collided with two other vehicles after he had unsuccessfully attempted to forcibly steal several cars at a nearby gas station.
After the initial incident, Ramirez crossed the street to another convenience store parking lot where he tried to break into his father’s vehicle. Surveillance footage revealed that he pulled the father from the driver’s seat and forced his way inside the car, prompting a frightening escape by a small child in the back seat.
At one point, Ramirez was seen sitting in the driver’s seat with the door shut when the father fired shots from the passenger side. Ramirez was later pronounced dead at a local hospital; fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
Authorities have stated that no charges will be filed against the father, as he remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The police noted that it seemed to be a case of self-defense, especially since Ramirez was using force and it was unclear if he was armed.
Tatiana Starks, who works at a nearby smoke shop, witnessed the altercation and even recorded part of it. She expressed concern about Ramirez’s state of mind during the incident. “I’m just relieved that the man was able to protect himself and his family,” she remarked, highlighting the importance of the family’s safety in such a chaotic situation.
