U.S. military estimates Iran conflict expenses exceed $11.3 billion in the initial six days

Pentagon officials briefed lawmakers privately on Tuesday, revealing that the estimated cost of the Iran war reached over $11.3 billion just in the first six days of conflict. This information came from three unnamed sources familiar with the press conference.

It’s important to note that this estimate doesn’t cover all expenses tied to the operations, like the initial military buildup prior to the strikes, according to the report. Additionally, senators were also involved during the briefing.

A staff member from the Senate Armed Services Committee advised that Fox News Digital report the details and mentioned he could only speak on behalf of the minority staff along with Ranking Member Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.). The senator subsequently sent a letter to Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth, asking for details about the financial implications of the war.

In the letter, Reed questioned, among other things, how much the Department of Defense had spent since the attacks began on February 28, 2026. He also pressed for information on daily operational costs, readiness expenses, and the funding required to replace losses in munitions and aircraft.

There hasn’t been any response from Republican members of the Senate Armed Services Committee regarding the situation. Furthermore, Fox News Digital made attempts to contact both the Department of the Army and the House Armed Services Committee Republican Press Office on Thursday.

This war-related spending occurs amidst a growing national debt in the U.S., which is nearing the $39 trillion mark. While President Trump engages in what seems to be a costly war with Israel, a key ally in the Middle East, American citizens are facing sharp increases in domestic gasoline prices.

In a statement on Thursday, President Trump emphasized the importance of curbing oil price hikes and highlighted his commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, stating on Truth Social, “I will never allow that!”
