Subway Push Incident Involving 83-Year-Old Veteran

An 83-year-old military veteran was pushed from a subway platform in New York City by a man who has been deported four times and boasts a lengthy criminal record with 15 prior convictions. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed this information recently.

On Tuesday, authorities arrested Byron Posada Hernandez, who is facing attempted murder charges for the attack that took place last weekend. The DHS described him as a “heinous man” and labeled him a “serial criminal.” They have urged local authorities not to release him.

DHS officials indicated that Posada-Hernandez, a national from Honduras, had entered the U.S. initially in 2008 and had been deported multiple times, last in 2020. The details regarding his most recent illegal return are unclear.

His criminal background includes serious charges such as simple assault, domestic violence, weapon possession, drug offenses, and aggravated assault.

In the subway incident, one of the victims, a 30-year-old man, is now in stable condition. Sadly, the veteran remains in critical condition. His daughter expressed her distress, saying, “He’s not responding. He’s on a ventilator. There’s no change. We’re praying for a miracle.”

She also highlighted the heroic action of the young man who first fell onto the tracks, as he helped her father. “It’s amazing what happened,” she noted, reflecting on the support they received during the chaotic situation.
