Teenagers on Electric Bikes Attack Man in Huntington Beach

This weekend, a group of teenagers riding electric bikes assaulted a man on a scooter in Huntington Beach, California. The incident reportedly involved kicking, stomping, and even hitting him with a glass bottle, as his wife looked on. KTLA TV has details on the situation.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, they received a call about the altercation that took place around 8 p.m. on Saturday at 103 Pacific Coast Highway.

Sam Elside, a local business owner, described driving home with his wife when they encountered what he estimated to be hundreds of teens, many on electric bikes, congregating on the beach and boardwalk.

As El-Sayed maneuvered through the crowd, someone threw a glass bottle that struck him in the face, breaking upon impact or having already been shattered. He mentioned sustaining minor injuries.

After dismounting from his scooter to assess the situation, El-Sayed was suddenly tackled from behind and then brutally kicked and stomped by up to six teenagers while he was on the ground.

Cellphone footage captured the chaotic moments following the attack, showing one teen in a black Playboy hoodie being pulled away from the victim, who was down on all fours in the sand.

Some teenagers could be seen laughing and jeering following the incident.

As El-Sayed stood up, blood was running down his face, with visible red marks near his left temple and cheekbone. His left hand was also bloodied, as reported by KTLA.

Police confirmed that they managed to arrest one of the teens involved, who now faces a misdemeanor charge.

The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.

El-Sayed, who ended up with a black eye as well, expressed that he and his wife made the move to Huntington Beach three years ago for a better quality of life. He believes this incident highlights the need for law enforcement to take tougher actions against such acts of violence.

“I invite you to come to this place on any Friday or Saturday night and see the chaos,” he told KTLA. “It’s terrifying. If changes aren’t made, incidents like what happened to me will unfortunately continue, possibly even worsening.”
