Quite a scene, even for New York City.
Recently, three mysterious glowing dots were spotted in the sky, leading to a surge of conspiracy theories and curiosities.
“I stepped out of my house in Corona, Queens, thinking I saw a shooting star, but then… [two] more people noticed it too,” Charlie Correa shared in an 18-second clip on Reddit. “It looked like they were playing chase; I recorded this.”
The video captures the objects moving in an erratic manner across the night sky, forming a rough triangular shape.
“I have a drone, and when it records, it either shows a green or red flashing light or nothing at all,” Correa noted in the video, which he tagged with “Government Drone? UFO” on March 8 at 8:30 p.m.
Or maybe some aliens were just curious about New York?
The faint orb lingered in the sky for several moments before vanishing into darkness.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed The Post that they “document sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) whenever a pilot reports seeing something unusual to an air traffic control facility.”
“If there’s supporting data, like radar information, we share it with U.S. government agencies,” they added.
While officials didn’t comment specifically on the Reddit video, they mentioned that various government entities have different programs to study and document UAPs, working together on the matter. The Department of the Army’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office acts as a central hub for UAP reports related to national security or safety concerns.
Meanwhile, social media users have been speculating about the origin of these peculiar glowing dots, questioning if the phenomena could be birds, planes, or some mischievous celestial happenings.
“Maybe it’s a bird,” one Redditor mused, suggesting that the brightness might stem from something on the ground.
Some claimed that Correa’s vantage point near the heavily trafficked airport might be influencing his perception. He quickly dismissed that, responding, “Isn’t it odd that LaGuardia Airport is probably a mile north of me and I’m not getting calls from the FAA or anything?”
Rather than birds or airplanes, one jokester remarked, “Nah, those are just stars playing tag.”
Despite the humor, UFO sightings are a serious issue.
Data indicates that in the first half of 2025, 66 unusual objects were seen darting over New York. Additionally, in 2024, a passenger plane had a “near miss” with an unidentified “cylindrical object” while flying off the Atlantic coast.
In light of such incidents, the Department of Defense’s All Area Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) felt compelled to reassure the public.
“It’s essential to highlight that, so far, AARO hasn’t found any evidence of extraterrestrial life, activity, or technology,” their representatives stated in a report.
