Olympic Snowboarder Honors Trump with Order of Ikos
At a Women’s History Month event at the White House on March 12, Olympic snowboarder Kylie Humphries presented President Donald Trump with the Order of Ikos.
Humphries was visibly emotional, explaining that she wanted to honor the president for his support of women’s sports, particularly the executive order he signed aimed at ensuring biological women can compete in their respective categories. The executive order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” focuses on barring biological males from participating in Title IX-covered women’s sports programs.
“I want to recognize your strong commitment to women’s sports throughout the Olympic movement, especially your efforts to protect fair competition,” Humphries remarked as she presented the medal.
“This is truly a special moment,” she continued, noting that this is a unique accolade. She added, “All U.S. Olympic medalists receive the Order of Ikos, awarded to those who have significantly impacted their journey, highlighting that no Olympic medal is won alone.”
Humphries proudly stated, “It’s an honor to present my Ikos Medal to Donald Trump.” She later acknowledged the administration’s policies, which aim to improve access to in vitro fertilization, allowing families like hers to grow.
Trump expressed his appreciation, exclaiming, “Wow! I know I like her!” as he accepted the award. This marked a notable recognition, as Humphries pointed out, making him potentially the first president to receive the Order of Ikos.
In the wake of Trump’s executive order from 2025, which restricts biological males from joining female sports under Title IX, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has implemented a ban on transgender women’s participation in women’s categories. Humphries earned two bronze medals at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics and holds several other accolades from her career.
The Order of Ikos was established in 2008 by the U.S. Olympic committee to recognize individuals who have played an essential role in an athlete’s success.
