California Man Indicted for Assaulting TSA and Dallas Police Officers

A man from California has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly assaulting two Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers and injuring a Dallas police officer at Dallas Love Field Airport, officials have reported.

Idres Binay Solomon, 33, from Oakland, is facing charges for assaulting a federal officer, which could lead to a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

As per a federal complaint filed recently, Solomon had a ticket for a Southwest Airlines flight bound for Oakland International Airport on March 10. He approached the security checkpoint without any identification. A TSA agent directed him to another lane, where his identity was confirmed using the agency’s Verified ID process.

Things escalated when Solomon became “verbally destructive and aggressive” after this identification attempt was unsuccessful. U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould stated that violence against TSA and law enforcement personnel is unacceptable in the Northern District of Texas. He emphasized the importance of pursuing such cases vigorously to ensure justice for victims and deter similar actions.

Allegedly, Solomon punched a TSA officer in the neck after requesting a supervisor. When Dallas police responded, he reportedly struck one of the officers in the face multiple times, leading to a fracture in the officer’s left eye that required hospitalization.

Records also indicate that after his arrest, Solomon intentionally spit on one officer’s arm while being placed in a police vehicle. Prosecutors noted his refusal to comply with lawful commands, as he continued to scream and resist the officers.
