Trump to Attend Historic UFC Event Celebrating America’s Milestones
Recently, former President Donald Trump announced his attendance at an upcoming UFC event in Washington, D.C., coinciding with his 80th birthday and the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. This landmark event is set to take place on June 14 and will feature two championship matches.
Trump, known for his long-standing support of the UFC, expressed enthusiasm about the event during an interview with boxer Jake Paul. He emphasized that it will be a unique experience, being held on the South Lawn of the White House. Paul remarked on the significance of the setting, stating, “It’s going to be great at the White House.” He also mentioned UFC President Dana White, calling him an outstanding supporter.
The event, named UFC Freedom 250, has generated considerable excitement. It will feature Ilya Topuria against Justin Gaethje for the Lightweight Championship, alongside a match between Alex Pereira and Cyril Gane for the Interim Heavyweight Championship.
Trump noted the unconventional choice of location for the event, mentioning, “I came up with the idea of staging it on the front porch of the White House.” He added that the fight card appears to be impressive, filled with top-ranked fighters eager to make their mark in celebration of the anniversary.
In addition to the main matches, the event will feature bouts such as Sean O’Malley against Ayman Zahavi and Michael Chandler facing Mauricio Luffy.
Dana White has assured that 85,000 free tickets will be available for the outdoor viewing area at the Ellipse in D.C., while tickets for the South Lawn will be distributed to military personnel rather than sold. He has downplayed any concerns regarding the political implications of the event, arguing that it is about celebrating history rather than politics.
White stated, “If you look back at history… former President George Bush was a big baseball fan, Barack Obama enjoyed the NBA, and Trump has been a fan of the UFC. I don’t think their support for sports has made it political.”
This UFC event is just one part of a series of celebrations planned by Trump for America’s 250th anniversary, which also includes free IndyCar races set for August.
