Netanyahu Acknowledges Israel’s Solo Action in Iran Strike
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently admitted that “Israel acted alone” in the assault on Iran’s South Pars gas field. He noted that President Donald Trump had urged Israel to “refrain from any further attacks.”
During a press conference on Thursday, Netanyahu, referring to online speculation about his health, stated, “I’m very much alive.” He also shared updates about Operation Roaring Lion, indicating that both Israel and the U.S. are “acting together in Iran with great determination.”
A reporter pressed Netanyahu on President Trump’s apparent disapproval of Israel’s airstrikes on Iran’s gas fields and whether Trump was aware of the attacks. In response, Netanyahu emphasized, “Well, I’ll say two things: First of all, Israel acted alone. Fact No. 2: President Trump has asked us to refrain from future attacks.”
These remarks followed Trump’s post on Truth Social, where he claimed that Israel had “violently attacked Iran’s major facility known as the South Pars gas field,” and clarified that the U.S. had “no knowledge of this particular attack” and that “Qatar was not involved in it in any way.”
In his statement, Trump went on to say, “Unfortunately, Iran knew nothing of this or any of the relevant facts regarding the attack on South Pars, and it unjustly and unjustifiably attacked some of Qatar’s LNG gas facilities.”
He continued, “Unless Iran makes a wise decision to attack a very innocent, in this case Qatar, there will be no further attacks by Israel on this vitally important and valuable South Pars gas field. In that case, the United States would massively detonate the entire South Pars gas field, with or without Israel’s support and consent, with power and force unlike anything Iran has ever seen or witnessed before.”
The South Pars gas field, part of the world’s largest gas reserve, is shared by both Qatar and Iran. Israeli analysts suggest that the recent attack might have served as a warning to Tehran to lift its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, with indications that Israel could inflict even more damage on Iran in the future.
