A Red Storm is brewing.
St. John’s, with Zuby Ejiofor leading the team, wrapped up their 2025-26 season with an impressive six consecutive victories, finishing with a record of 28-6 and earning the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Despite what critics might say, following their win over Yukon in the Big East Tournament championship, Rick Pitino’s team feels they deserve a better seed. They’ll have to maximize their opportunity against Trey Campbell’s No. 11 Northern Iowa Panthers in the first round today.
Sitting in a similar position, the Panthers have also closed the season strong, winning their last five games. Ejiofor and his teammates are certainly in for a challenge, especially since Northern Iowa boasts the best defense in the nation, allowing just 61 points per game.
