Border Patrol Arrests Mexican Fugitives

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recently confirmed the arrests of two Mexican fugitives by U.S. Border Patrol officers in San Diego. These individuals were wanted for serious offenses, including murder and lewd acts against a child.

On February 26, authorities carried out surveillance on Silvia del Rosario Torres Castro, a Mexican national sought in Mexico for murder. She was apprehended without incident in Anaheim, California, and subsequently turned over to the Federal Government of the Republic of Mexico (FGR), according to DHS officials.

It’s noted that Torres Castro had entered the U.S. illegally back in December 2023 during the Biden administration, specifically in the Imperial Beach Border Patrol area.

In a separate operation on March 6, agents focused on Salvador Suazo-Garcia, also a Mexican national, who was wanted for lewd acts involving children. He was arrested in Lemon Grove, California, and similarly processed before being handed over to Mexican authorities.

Interestingly, while Suazo-Garcia had entered the U.S. legally in May 2021, her visa was revoked due to the allegations against her in Mexico. Lauren Biss, the acting assistant secretary of DHS, expressed concern over the current situation, stating that dangerous individuals are allowed to remain in the country, which could jeopardize community safety. Biss remarked, “These criminal aliens are often labeled as ‘non-criminal’ because they lack a criminal record in the United States.”

DHS also provided a striking statistic indicating that nearly 70% of apprehended illegal immigrants nationwide are either convicted or have pending criminal charges in the U.S. Biss added that this figure does not include individuals wanted for violent crimes abroad or other serious offenses, emphasizing the importance of their removal.

Thanks to a coordinated effort by law enforcement, officials are optimistic that these two individuals will now face justice for their actions in Mexico.
