Kurt Russell reflects on 43 years with Goldie Hawn: 'Let's enjoy ourselves as long as we can'

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn Share 43 Years Together

Kurt Russell recently opened up about his long-lasting relationship with Goldie Hawn in an interview, reminiscing about how they first crossed paths 43 years ago. They met on the set of “The One and Only Authentic Original Family Band” in 1967 when Hawn was only 15, while Russell was 21.

The couple reconnected in 1983 while filming “Swing Shift.” By then, both had experienced divorces; Hawn had two children—Oliver and Kate—and Russell had a son named Boston. Reflecting on their initial connection, Russell humorously stated, “We hit it off and agreed, ‘Let’s have fun until we get divorced.’ It’s been 43 years since!”

Even though they’ve never married, the two have built a life together, merging their families and raising their children collectively. They welcomed a son, Wyatt, in July 1986, further solidifying their bond.

Currently, they split their time among homes in Los Angeles, Palm Desert, Old Snowmass, and New York, with Russell expressing that their cabin in Old Snowmass is particularly special. “It’s a big, beautiful log cabin lodge on a ranch,” he shared. “Goldie and I share a passion for log homes.”

Hawn previously discussed her choice to remain unmarried, stating that their relationship thrives without that legal commitment. “We’re both financially independent. We’ve raised our kids well. I like waking up and seeing him there knowing I have a choice. There’s really no reason to get married,” she explained.

Their children, Kate and Oliver, have described Russell as a father figure, affectionately calling him “Pa.” Oliver even shared on his podcast that Russell significantly shaped who he is today. He reminisced about a moment when Russell proposed adoption, but they declined, believing that love was enough.

Despite not having a traditional family structure, Russell and Hawn have created a nurturing and loving environment, full of laughter and support. In the end, it’s clear that their unconventional path has worked for them, significantly contributing to their happiness and family unity.
