Tom Brady Returns to the Field for Flag Football Classic

In a memorable return, Tom Brady took to the football field for the first time in more than three years, though this time he left his pads behind.

On Saturday, Brady joined both current and past NFL players at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, which showcased a series of games between his team and the U.S. National Team.

At 48 years old, Brady demonstrated that he can still deliver, amassing 85 yards and throwing for two touchdowns in the games he participated in.

During the matches, Brady filled in for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, racking up 224 passing yards alongside those two touchdowns, but also throwing three interceptions.

One of the highlights came when he reconnected with his longtime partner Rob Gronkowski, tossing a pass for a two-point conversion after a touchdown. Sadly, Gronkowski sustained a hamstring injury shortly after.

Despite an early lead, Brady’s team ultimately faced defeat, losing 43-16 to Team USA. They were also beaten in the championship game, finishing with a score of 24-14 against the same team.

After his team’s losses, Brady expressed his disappointment, saying, “My heart is really hurting right now.”

Flag football is set to debut in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, yet Team USA won’t feature any NFL players on its roster.

Interestingly, back in 2024, QB Darrell Doucette II made headlines by claiming he was superior to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, asserting that his game IQ was unmatched. He acknowledged Mahomes’ skills but maintained that he had the upper hand specifically in flag football.

Doucette later elaborated, clarifying that he didn’t consider himself the better player overall but felt confident in his abilities within the flag football realm. “I’m not saying I’m a better player overall, but until he gets on the flag field five-on-five, I’m going to feel that way until I’m proven otherwise! I’m a competitor and I need to be proven wrong,” he stated.
