Jason Momoa and Family Evacuated Due to Historic Flooding in Oahu

Actor Jason Momoa, known for his role in “Aquaman,” recently shared that he and his family had to evacuate their home following severe flooding on the North Shore of Oahu. This flooding was a result of a seasonal cyclone, which also caused widespread power outages in the area.

Momoa took to Instagram to reassure his followers, stating, “For now we are safe, but there are many who weren’t safe and we are sending all our love.” He expressed concern for the local community, highlighting the dire situation on the North Shore and urging others to stay safe.

Despite the challenges of being temporarily displaced, Momoa organized a rally for the local community, emphasizing the impact of the ongoing storms and flooding. He acknowledged, “The last few weeks have been tough. Storms, flooding, and persistent rain across Oahu are impacting so many people, especially those already facing hardship.” He noted that families are being displaced and that the homeless population is particularly vulnerable.

Alongside his girlfriend Adria Arjona, Momoa worked to “spread aloha” by distributing more than 200 plates of food to residents affected by the floods. He shared, “We spent time on the West Side just trying to show love, bring food and remind the community that we see you, we have your back and you are not alone.”

Momoa defined this support as a true reflection of aloha, stating, “That’s aloha: showing up for each other when it matters most.”

As of Sunday, around 2,000 residents in Hawaii remained without power due to the severe weather, which has been called the worst flooding in over 20 years. Emergency evacuation orders were issued for 5,500 people in northern Honolulu.

Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but over 200 individuals required rescue from the sea. Governor Josh Green remarked that the state is still in a precarious situation, with a statewide flood watch active throughout the weekend.

He warned that saturated ground conditions could lead to further flooding and damage even with less rainfall. The governor indicated that damages from this disaster might surpass $1 billion, affecting airports, roads, homes, and healthcare facilities on Maui.
