Matt Fitzpatrick's wife honors the golfer's victory at the Valspar Championship

Matt Fitzpatrick’s loyal fans are certainly celebrating this triumph following his tough loss at The Players Championship last week.

Not long after the British golfer secured his third PGA Tour win at the Valspar Championship on Sunday—where he had narrowly lost by one shot to Cameron Young at The Players—his wife, Katherine, shared a brief but heartfelt message in the comments of his Instagram post about the victory.

“Incredible job!” Fitzpatrick exclaimed after finishing with a 3-under 68 in the last round at the Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Florida, bringing his total to 11 under. This put him just ahead of American David Lipsky, earning Fitzgerald $1.6 million.

He remarked that Sunday’s win was “a great way to end the mess in Florida.”

“Thanks @valsparchamp for an awesome week. Excited to keep this momentum rolling!” he posted on Instagram.

Just a week ago, Fitzpatrick was left out of the winner’s circle while Young took home the $4.5 million prize at The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

The American, 28 years old, wrapped up the tournament at 13 under par, finishing one stroke behind Fitzpatrick.

“Losing just before the end is always hard to digest,” Fitzpatrick said, as reported on the PGA Tour website.

Even after his disappointing finish at The Players, Fitzpatrick, now ranked No. 6 globally, had been gaining confidence as he headed toward his first PGA Tour victory since the RBC Heritage in 2023.

“The key for me was feeling like I was playing well,” he reflected. “I really wanted to keep that going and felt I could. Doing it for four rounds this week was special.”

There’s a good possibility Fitzpatrick will continue this positive streak into the Masters, which is just two weeks away. His best result at Augusta National was a tie for seventh place in 2016.

At 31 years old, he’s aiming for his second major title after winning the US Open in 2022.

Fitzpatrick tied the knot with Catherine two years post his victory.
