Transgender migrant receives lenient plea deal in the rape of a 14-year-old boy in a NYC bodega restroom

Deportation Set for Transgender Immigrant After Plea Deal

An undocumented transgender immigrant admitted on Tuesday to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in a Manhattan warehouse bathroom last year. Surprisingly, Nicole Alexandra Contreras Suarez, a 31-year-old Colombian, may not face further prison time after pleading guilty to second-degree rape.

She has already served six months, which was part of a deal reached in Manhattan Supreme Court. This means her sentencing on April 24 will likely see her released, unless federal immigration officials intervene and deport her.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office indicated that this settlement was made with input from the victim’s family, effectively sparing the boy from having to testify in grand jury proceedings or a lengthy trial.

The victim’s family is reportedly aware that Suarez will be deported right after her sentencing, according to a spokesperson from the prosecutor’s office.

Interestingly, Suarez was already facing charges in Massachusetts including robbery and weapons offenses. In a disturbing account, prosecutors allege that she followed the teenager into a strip mall across from Thomas Jefferson Park on February 11, 2025, where the assault occurred. After the attack, the young victim warned people around him, leading to Suarez’s arrest the next day.

Oddly enough, it seems U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials had already placed a detainer on her, indicating she would be held for deportation once this criminal case was resolved.

Tricia McLaughlin, a former assistant secretary of Homeland Security, expressed strong opinions about the situation. She remarked, “This macabre character should never have been released into our country,” adding criticism of sanctuary policies and the current administration for allowing such a criminal to prey on children.

It’s become clear that federal immigration authorities have been in conflict with New York City over its sanctuary policies, which limit local cooperation on deportations.

As of now, ICE has not commented on Suarez’s plea deal.
