Trevor Sheets recently shared a post about his wife, Ashley Sheets, that quickly gained attention online. The post touched on Ashley’s journey to reclaim her sexual purity through her faith in Christ. While it received a lot of views—millions, in fact—it also faced significant backlash, including criticism from some notable conservative Christian figures.
For instance, Allie Beth Stuckey, a host on Blaze TV, expressed her disagreement with how Trevor phrased his testimony. Stuckey highlighted a clip from Daily Wire host Michael Knowles, who noted that, although he agreed with many of Trevor’s points, calling one’s wife a “whore” online doesn’t seem appropriate. He suggested that discussing past sins publicly isn’t necessary.
Stuckey countered, arguing that Trevor didn’t label his wife that way—she pointed out that such terms came from the critics themselves. She emphasized that it’s unfortunate that some self-identified Christians tend to criticize women while dismissing the transformative work of the gospel.
Some critics maintained that while virginity is significant, promoting Ashley’s narrative could be problematic. Stuckey clarified that Trevor’s message wasn’t dismissing virginity but rather celebrating Ashley as a new creation.
She remarked that such honesty and transparency could be difficult for many to accept, as it challenges societal norms. Stuckey expressed her admiration for Ashley’s courage, which she believes illustrates the salvation and grace available through Christ. She then shared Ashley’s reaction to the criticism.
Ashley stated that being a Christian often subjects one to mockery and shame, but she affirmed that it was all worthwhile for the sake of the gospel. She conveyed her gratitude for the exposure her testimony received, asserting she was “not at all embarrassed” by the backlash and highlighting the importance of sharing one’s story.
Her conviction, rooted in the Beatitudes, reinforces that even when faced with insult or persecution for righteousness, one can find blessing in those trials.
