Woman Destroys Ex’s Tesla in Reckless Act of Revenge
A woman has been recorded demolishing her former partner’s Tesla in what many have called a “petty” move following their breakup.
This incident has garnered more than 400,000 views on Instagram after a user shared the video. The event took place in a garage in Lake Tahoe, situated on the California-Nevada border, resulting in damages worth thousands.
The footage shows a man allowing his ex-girlfriend to use his vehicle to help her move belongings from their shared residence. Unfortunately, his good intentions soon backfired.
The video captures the woman loading boxes into the car while her primary focus appears to be inflicting damage.
In the initial moments of the clip, she quietly approaches one of the car’s side doors. Then, as she loads the vehicle, she begins to repeatedly slam the door against its hinges, scraping it against the garage wall.
At one point, she can be seen taking what looks like a hammer to bash the car’s hood, creating noticeable dents and scratches.
What’s perhaps the most troubling is her demeanor throughout the whole scene. She remains seemingly unfazed, stepping out of the frame occasionally to retrieve another box, only to return and continue her destructive spree.
While her face is visible in the recording, news.com.au opted to blur it out.
The video sparked an array of comments; many viewers expressed disbelief at her actions.
One commenter quipped, “The courts will love this.” Others commended the man for ending the relationship, with someone remarking that he “dodged a bullet.” A few users suggested she may have thought she was being clever, eager to brag to friends about it.
Some, however, questioned the nature of the breakup, wondering how someone could lend their car amicably yet behave so spitefully afterward.
This situation carries potential legal repercussions under California law.
In the U.S., “vandalism” can be classified as either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the extent of the damage caused.
Given the nature of Teslas, even minor repairs can exceed five figures, which means the woman could be facing felony charges. If the damages amount to more than $400, she could risk up to a year in county jail, hefty fines, and likely a civil lawsuit to cover repair costs that her ex may pursue.
