FBI Reinvigorates Search in Amy Lynn Bradley Disappearance Case
Nearly three decades after Amy Lynn Bradley vanished from a cruise ship, the FBI is reigniting efforts to solve the case.
At just 23, she set off on a week-long cruise with her family to tropical destinations. However, she mysteriously disappeared from her cabin in the early hours of March 24, 1998.
Investigators have struggled with the case over the years, and a recent Netflix documentary, “Amy Bradley Is Missing,” has sparked new interest.
Last week, the FBI took a significant step, announcing a $25,000 reward for information that could lead to her recovery, as well as for details that could result in identifying, arresting, and convicting those involved in her presumed abduction or death.
Prior to her disappearance, Amy was seen enjoying herself at a nightclub on the cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas with her brother Brad, before heading back to their shared room.
Her father stated that he woke around 5:30 a.m. to find her feet on a chair on the balcony. But just half an hour later, she was gone.
Since that day, her family, residing near Richmond, Virginia, has relentlessly searched for her, holding onto the hope that she is still alive.
“Hope Never Dies,” Brad told NewsNation recently. “As unlikely as it might appear to some, I truly believe she is out there.”
It’s a belief shared by his parents, who, almost obsessively, hold on to the same gut feeling since the very beginning. Explaining this to others, though, is, well, a bit complicated.
Attempts to locate her, particularly given her background as a Longwood University basketball player, have produced no leads, and the FBI has indicated a lack of evidence pointing to foul play.
Yet, over the years, many claimed they had seen her. One taxi driver in Curaçao reported seeing her shortly after the ship docked, stating that she was running around, looking for her phone.
Another account suggested she was spotted in Barbados years later.
Theories surrounding her disappearance range from being kidnapped and forced into a life of sex work to possibly choosing to run away to start anew in the Caribbean.
The Netflix series has reportedly led to new information. Allegations surfaced that a bartender heard Bradley crying out, “Señorita has been kidnapped!” on the night of her disappearance.
Brad’s assertion that he believes she was specifically targeted is firm, further noting that he didn’t jump from the ship as some have speculated.
As of now, the FBI continues its investigation into this long-standing mystery.
