Disturbing video footage has surfaced showing a high school employee in South Carolina using a Taser on a student during a baseball game, which has led to significant outrage among parents and prompted a state police investigation.
The incident took place at Pee Dee Academy in Marion County, where the video depicts a school resource officer restraining a teenage baseball player while displaying a Taser to a crowd of upset onlookers.
The officer reportedly hit the student on the side of the head with the Taser, resulting in the student visibly reacting in pain.
Chaos erupted as the crowd yelled, “What the hell is going on?” while the officer continued to hold the student. Comments from parents filled the air, with one exclaiming, “You just lost your job, buddy,” and another warning, “You’ll lose your pension if you do that, honey.”
Amid the commotion, the crowd urged the student to kneel in an attempt to calm the agitated officer, who responded heatedly with, “Where’s the other one?”
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, though it seems the student was competing on behalf of his school in a game against Pee Dee Academy.
As tensions eased, the student was seen rubbing his head while his parents worked to resolve the situation.
Reports indicate that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is looking into the matter. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has stated, “We have turned the matter over to SLED for investigation. The deputy in question has been reassigned pending SLED’s investigation.”
